Answer to Reliving the Past
Correct answer is E, the obturator externus muscle.
First position in ballet is when the heels are together, with toes turned out until the feet are in a straight line.
Plié is a French term meaning to bend, or bending. There are two principal pliés: A grand plié is a full knee bend (the knees should be bent until the thighs are horizontal) in which the heels always rise off the ground—except when a dancer is in second position—and are lowered again as the knee straightens.
The obturator externus is one of the six lateral rotator muscles of the thigh (obturator internus, obturator externus, superior and inferior gemelli, pyriformis, and quadratus femoris).
This gentleman got carried away after imbibing and strained the obturator externus. May not have noticed at the bar, but the results of over exertion without first warming up led to the injury.
